Although Fareshares is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, we do have to cover our direct expenses, especially our contributions towards the building collective’s major outgoing which is the rent we pay to our landlord Southwark Council, as well as electricity and internet connection.

We are currently contributing about £450 a month towards these costs.

To raise the money for these expenses, we add a markup of 15% to products on our shelves (10% to pre-paid orders), but we also depend on donations from those who can afford to add more.

So please, if you can, drop some cash in the donation jar. If you are paying for your shopping by non-cash means (bank transfer or card), please remember to add something on top of your goods total too.
